message hook in linux ?

Hello,

message hook is a lingo associated with windows programming. you can actually capture the events occuring in one process from a different process. Is there something similar in Xlib programming. I want to capture mouse drag events in on window from other processes. The other process might be a deamon. Is there a way. Any help is much appreciated. A clue or link to an article would be helpful.

The approximate equivalent of messages under windows
are events. check out this link it has a few programs that
seem to do what you want.
