Looking for open source development tools

Methods and Tools (a free e-newsletter focused on software development) is preparing a directory of open source development tools (application servers, IDE, databases, compilers,...).

I am looking for suggestions of tools to include in this section (with the url of their web sites)

You can reply to this post or send your suggestions to editor@methodsandtools.com

Thanks

KDevelop and Anjuta are nice, but in both cases you have to install almost an entire desktop environment along with it to get it to work (KDE for KDevelop and Gnome for Anjuta).

If you're able to find something that doesn't depend as much on the desktop environment, I'd really like to know.
