Exclamation Linux Scripting stupid question

I been trying to make a shell script that will accept the input of a directory and will check to make sure the enter variable is a directory and is readable and writable. And if it is then all ordinary files that are readable the user should be asked whether or not to delete the file and then what ever the answer it should go to the next file.

PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!!!!
