Linux on ARM processor
Hi all,
I've got to do some development on ARM processors, with graphics. I've got the finished hardware and now need to start on the SW. I see there's various ways to develop. I can install a linux build on the board or cross compile on my PC across the network. What do people with experience with ARM recommend? If Linux which build, I normally use Debian, but is this stable enough. I'll need to install a graphics package, what do you recommend? I was thinking embedded QT or SDL if it's available. Can anyone point me to good pages for ARM and linux? Thanks :) It's the usual thing HW gives you a new board, you ask about what software they've tried and what works they shrug and say don't know :s |
probably depends on what your used to
My phone (neo freerunner) has an arm4 processor, and it runs openmoko... but users in that community also run debian on it...
When I do work on it, I use ssh, so I can type on full size keyboard; and in the remote shell, I can mount the micro sd card, and can experiment with installing different os and custom kernel before booting from that card (it really is just a miniture pc :) ) Being a slacker, I plan on trying to install armed slack ( http://www.armedslack.org/ ), but, being a slacker, haven't got around to her yet. |
