Linux Kernel API Question

I was wondering about this no longer supported function kill_proc_info(). I'm trying to get Captive-NTFS working and this is where I always get stuck. Oh my linux machine at home, I can comment out the line that calls this function with no apparent side effects. But on the machine that I really want to get Captive working on, A Dell 64bit Xeon machine, with Fedora Core 4 x86_64 on it. I try it and it doesn't work. dmesg gives me this error I can't remember, something like ioctl or some such thing that didn't make sense. And mount would return after trying to mount the ntfs drive by saying This is not a directory.

So I had an idea. What function replaced the kill_proc_info() function, and how could I use it here.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused here... as of the 2.6.11 source that function still exists.

Function Definition (include/linux/sched.h)
Function Implementation (kernel/signal.c)

Thanks for pointing those pages out. It let me try something that strangly works on my home computer, now running 2.6.12, but not on Fedora. I replaced kill_proc_info with kill_proc So now it compiles and loads, but when I try to mount I get this error from dmesg

ioctl32(captive-lufsd-b:3595): Unknown cmd fd(3) cmd(00000330){00} arg(ff7fe73c) on /dev/sda2

Any idea?
