linux intel fortran problem: ifort command does not execute

i installed the free intel linux fortran compiler like 3 times now (first using same license then getting another free one)
all so in hopes that the ifort executable would execute. it hasn't. i clearly
see the ifort in green displayed in the correct folder however it will not execute either there or anywhere.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

See if you can get a meaningful error message. Open a terminal and type ifort at the prompt. This should give you a better indication of what is going wrong.
