Linux distro for programming

Does anyone know of a good distro for developing/programming? I have a lot of memory (12 gig) and wish to migrate towards Linux GUI programming. I already know Win32 etc.. and wish to know which would be right for me.

Also, if anyone can program for Linux or Windows and would like to join a team for making a C/C++ IDE for both OSes, go to the site page or to the forums for more info. Or you can email me at

Thanks in advance - cweb255
