Question linux debugging without source code

Is it possible to debug a linux program (in C or C++) if I don't have the source code? What debugger should I use?

Thanx jeremy, but this page is no longer available.
Do you know any other place where I can find something
about debugging such programs? Or maybe somebody can recommend a tool which would be of some use?
