Hey guys,

So i've finally given Python a look. Eversince last summer i've been meaning to take the time and learn it, just for the sake of knowing more. Well, i finally got the time over the last 2 weeks. I picked up Learning Python (2nd edition) and i have to say i'm rather enjoying Python. Now i need some experience and playing around so i figured why not explore Zope...

Anywho, can you guys recommend some good resources to get started with Zope (and even Python). Book reviews, etc, are all welcome. Just want to get an idea of what's available and were to start.

hey man.
i've used zope a long time ago (circa 2000), and i'm sure it's even easier to understand now.
zope comes with a tutorial which u can just quickly go through. of course, they might have some docs online on their website too. so just install it, and have a quick tour of the tutorial it comes with.

python - i've not read any books on it (i haven't had the opportunity/time to code in python for real-life tasks but i know it from an academic standpoint) ... but i found the python references on python.org very helpful.

I'd say it's probably best to become more comfortable with Python before diving into Zope. Supposedly Zope 3 is going to be a lot nicer for developers, but Zope 2 still has somewhat of a learning cliff. I'm pretty good with Python and Zope programming is still foreign to me in a lot of ways (granted, I haven't plugged away at it as much as I should, but it's not like being good with Python will automatically make you a good Zope programmer; but being bad with Python will pretty much automatically make you a bad Zope programmer ).

h/w: yeah i'm going through the docs and tutorials provided with Zope. Also found a few good resources online.

Strike: i haven't taken the Zope plunge yet, i've only started learning Python itself last week, so i'm taking my time exploring it. Was just looking at Zope as a way to learn Python more from practice.
