Know compiler version of an already built library

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a way to know the compiler and its version of an already built executable file or library (either .a or .so)

Thanx

Gcc has several options.

gcc --help reveals -print-prog-name -pring-file-name that maybe be useful to your cause.

readelf -a sort | grep "version" can also reveal versions of gcc libraries used.
