anyone know of any program other than kdeveloper for c++? i'm used 2 using microsoft visual c++ and can't get my head round creating a new peoject each time and like just 2 create a new c++ sorce code without hastle.
Yeah, I've been using Kdevelop for a few days and I can say thats not usable for writting small programms, maybe its better for projects. You cant make a new, empty file which isn't part of a project. I can reccomend KWrite, which supports C/C++ formatting. It could be helpful, but remember- the true hacker uses only pico .
Although it is a matter of personal taste, I prefer to use kate for small things. Because it is painfully simple, it works well, can handle multiple files, and has formatting for just about every language you can think of.

Hi, I have used Kdevelop for learning C++. The problem I found was with the 20 plus files that are created even for a simple 'hello world' program. I was wondering if there was a way that this program could be used to create simple programs without all the unecessary makefiles etc???
I think kdevelop is more appropriate with large project you can write this code in any text editor like emacs, and you can open the code after writing it from kdevelop to make the The maintaining and the debugging easier.
you absolutely use kdevelop in wrong way.
Also you can follow these steps:

Yes I understand what you mean but if I do a simple 'hello world' program like this, Kdevelop will still generate over 22 different files for this!! There seems to be no way of stopping it from doing this either.
