Kdevelop and FAT

Hello

I'm working on a project that I need to compile both under win and linux, for this reason the source code files is in my FAT32 partition, so that I can access the sources from both OSs and backup the whole thing more easily.
I'm not very familiar with linux environment so I went for the IDE solution (in this case, kdevelop)
I set the whole thing up etc and now I'm able to create working projects, but when I tried to setup my project I faced a problem: it seems kdevelop wants all the sources at least linked in the main src dir and it's unable to do it (I assume it's impossible due to fs specs)
at this point I could copy the files there but I'd need to mantain parallel versions of the sources (urgh!), also, since I'm linking and compiling some of my own generic libraries too it would be quite a trouble

is there a way to make it work?
as an alternative I can create the linux project in my ext3 partition and link the sources from there (hoping it can be done..), I'd just need to backup the projects settings sometimes but it's not a critical issue.. is this the way to go?

I'd rather have the project on Ext3. Symlinks are not that easily emulated and Windows tools to access Linux partitions are available.

I suggest you look into a version controling system, for example CVS.
Set up a repository accessible from both windows and linux. That is either on the FAT partition of the computer or on a different computer accesible by network.
Then check out the sources into both linux and windows programming environments (I am sure that kdevelop has some support for CVS built in).
After making some changes in the code, check them into the repository.
And you can check them out to the other environment again.
Using a version control system has a lot of advantages other than being able to access your source code from different systems, so use it!
