JDBC-ODBC connectivity problem

i have been trying to connect to Oracle 8i(8.1.5) using JDBC-ODBC Bridge drivers but the connection is established only when the ODBC driver is "Microsoft ODBC drivers for Oracle " but not when it is "Oracle for OraHome".but both work when it is Oracle 9i.can anybody tell why it is so for Oracle 8i(8.1.5)?

With something so specific to Java and Oracle, I would imagine you would be better helped in an Oracle or Java specific forum.
