IPC message between process (Sync)

Anyone knows if there is any open source code out there that implements an IPC message to communication between processes, kinda like a sendMsg?

What I want to do:

I have say a two processes : Process A and Process B, the process A sends a message to process B (Blocking call) with a return data

In process A:
user_data *data;

data = sendMsg (PID, msgBuf);

The process B will receive message and return data to process A.

Anyone knows anything like this out there?

The book "Advanced Linux Programming" (New Riders) is made freely available by its editor under the "Open Publication License". The code examples are licensed by the GPL. You can download the entire book (one PDF per chapter) and the code examples from .

Chapter 5 is about IPC.
