Installed Eclipse not running

Hi a new Ubuntu 9.04 user
I had installed Eclipse online easily with the traditional method of Add/Remove sofware
Every other sofware runs well but, When i double clicked on
Application-->Programming-->Eclipse
I got the following message

The custom VM you have chosen is not a valid executable.

Tell me what went wrong and how could i resolve it.

all I know is I went to the eclipse site and down loaded it and ran it from the directory.
make sure you have java installed sun java. I will install it on my Ubuntu box and let you know.
