install pathan 1

Dear Linux programers or c++ programers:
I am in Ubuntu
do I have simple way(at-get install) to install pathan 1(XPath feature)?
I tried to use old way, download pathan 1 source code
but at configure stage, it response error:
-------
checking unicode support in flex... configure: error: not found. Pathan requires a version of flex supporting the -U (16-bit unicode) flag.
-------
I already install flex by apt-get install flex
Please help and thanks a lot in advance, Eric

Do you have flex and bison installed?

Code:
apt-get install bison flex
PS:
Why Pathan? I'd recommend considering something a bit more up-to-date. In fact, the current version of Xerces might be all you need:
