It's not in a library but it's in the kernel. See: http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/~dsw/p...api/r4037.html

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds to me it can only be used if you're doing kernel (module) programming.

yup you're correct.this call is available only to the kernel..because otherwise there is no other place where you have to copy data from user land to kernel land or vice versa ...

this is what a lot of system calls use...
