Question Implementing RDB in Linux

Hi All,
As part of my course, I am implementing RDP. I did do a search for TCP and got loads of files, and did not get the head or tail of the same. So what I precisely want to know is what is the exact flow of the TCP functionality in the kernel, so that I can write the RDP functionality and patch it in the kernel.

Also, information regarding how to rebuild a kernel and test would be very helpful...

PS: RDP is Reliable Data Protocol
The linux I am working on is Fedora Core 3, release 2.6.9-1.667

Thanks and Regards,
P R Sharath
