How well HDFS(Hadoop DFS)/Gluster FS etc gels with MySQL

Hi All. I've been spending quite a descent amount of time on learning the basic architecture of MySQL. What I'm able to figure out so far is that in between the "Storage Engine" i.e MyISAM/InnoDB etc and teh lower level disk(the HDD) comes something like NFS/HDFS etc. I'm I right? Please correct if I'm wrong. I've heard ppl sayin that Yahoo is using Hadoop at its backend for gettign teh search results or Amazon is using EC2 file sys blah blah blah. Now I want to know where exactly this Hadoop/Gluster FS comes to the picture? Basically I want to do a comparative study of "which one gels best with MySQL NFS/Hadoop DFS/Gluster FS and ofcourse why? this obviusly depends on the requirement, right? Guys I'm really spending a lot of time on this but yet to figure out the whole picture properly. Can some one point me to some good links/tutorials which 'll help me in this regard. Thank you very much.
