how to get window from gdk to gtk?

anyone know how to get a window created with gdk (gdk_window_new) to be used as if it was made in gtk (gtk_window_new)..

whenever i try to use the gdk window as i would a gtk window (add a button to it) i get errors about how its not a container, or something like that

any ideas?

GtkWindows and GdkWindows are very different things. A GdkWindow is a wrapper around an X window and a GtkWindow is an actual widget. Some Gtk widgets have GdkWindows.

You might be able to draw buttons on a GdkWindow, but I do not believe that you can add widgets like you can with a GtkWindow.
