How to get MinGW studio running on Linux

Maybe I'm just impatient, maybe it's that the MinGW instructions on installation are ridiculously vast and no-so-well written, but I can't get it to compile. I'm really agitated after several days of trying to figure this crap out, and I need some direction.

So just answer me this please, what do I NEED to get this to work? Do I have to download ALL of these packages? Can we not get a decent all in one packaged linux distribution? If there is one, I haven't found it. If I have to do all this crap to get an IDE running, then I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather just be able to do my freaking work.

I don't want to make a whole project out of just acquiring a tool to help me do my REAL work. Sorry to come off like an ass, because I know I am, but I gotta vent a little, you know? :) Thanks in advance for any help.
