how to do this map

Hi all,

Well, I know everyone (well, almost everyone) is following the elections results now; but I have this question:
How can I do map such as this one for my web page?

I will be very grateful if someone can give me a detailed answer (with references if possible) that would teach me how to make one.

Thanks in advance.

The complete answer involves grabbing the source code for the page and spending some "quality time" with it...

My hunch is that they have taken the image and sliced it up into zones---as you hover on each one, there's maybe some javascript that generates the info box.

One way to start reverse engineering these things is to save the site in your browswer---eg save as "web page complete". This typically gives you an html file, plus a folder with all the images in use. By looking at the images, you get some idea of how things are set up.
