how to determine whether the window is minimized/maximized in xlib

hi guys..
how can i find out whether the window is minimized or maximized by using atom in xlib??can anybody put an example..
i mean for example by using atom like WM_STATE and xgetproperty()??
any hint..i appreatiate..
