how do I get stage2 into grub as an executable

Hi

here is my grub splashimage howto in which I grab the stage2 file off a rescue cd.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=230513

Now I know that when I use the TAB button in grub command mode either at boot up or when fully booted ,..... I get differences.

The command splashimage is available at mbr bootloader command grub and not when fully booted.

The reason for this is I don't know how to build the stage2 file into the already installed grub.

Hence my question. How do I get the new stage2 file into my executable?

Any clues including the obvious feel free to post please as I would like to solve this.

I am not a programmer but willing to try most suggestions within reason.
