How do I compile?

I am running Redhat Linux 7.3 and apparently it did not come with a compiler because when I tried to install gcc-3.2, I get the message:

*** The command 'cc: command -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

Do I need a precompiled version of gcc?
If so, where can I get it cuz I can't find it anywhere?
If not, what should I do?

Where did you install the compiler?, it should be in /bin, surely in /usr/bin or where the path is defined in your environment variables. Or, if you have an environment variable called CC, it shoud be directed where your gcc compiler is.

Write 'set' in the command prompt to see you environment variables.

Hope this helps.
