go to school, learn the theory and fundamentals, don't expect no one to hand you out a silver dish in this area

Hack or Crack passwords?

acid_kewpie 10-13-2004 02:13 PM

I think tinkster was referring you to that link in an attempt to educate you.. sadly it doesn't seem to have worked.

LinuxQuestions will ***NOT*** tolerate questions for information about cracking systems. Do you really think that just because we stereotypically don't use / like Microsoft products we wish to negatively affect the users of their product??

We are not like that, and you do everyone in the Linux / open source communicty if you are trying to further that reputation.

if you wish to remain a valued member of LQ.org you will obey the rules and not request anything like this again. An apology wouldn't go amiss either... so i'll leave this thread open to let you do just that.....

Looks like you know me quite well Chris :)

Any sk1pt k1dd13 with the brain of a cucumber can crack into a Windows machine. Why don't you impress people by not doing it instead?

lol!

Don't hack passwords Falkor, it is a bad thing and people hate you for it. Not only that, it's a waste of time. :p

I agree whole heartedly with acid_kewpie, just because I hate Microsoft products doesn't mean I am gunna make a virus or nothing. I might try to screw up my own Windows install, but thats as far as I'll ever go (wont be too hard to crack my passwords anyway :p).

I admit that hacking in the line of "figuring out file formats" and such, is a good thing. But viruses, login onto peoples computer when your not welcome and the such IS NOT COOL!

Hackers are good. Crackers are bad (unless cheese is involved).

Well, I guess the open source movement is all about hacking the code and making "our" software better rather than trying to find faults in Microsoft products. So, it would be better if you can download the source of any open source software and see if you can find any bug in the code or maybe if you can suggest any improvements. That should be more helpful and constructive.

You really should focus your efforts towards learning about Security...............knowing how to secure your windows/linux system
will help you keep out the crackers of the world..............

And another thing..........Most if not ALL ISP (internet service providers) automagically block ports 137-139
just an FYI for you about the NETBUI protocol............

Read up on TCP/IP
this will help you get started on Security Issues...........

Even if you did hack in the 2000 what would you do. You don't seem to know the files your looking for. Most people know how to secure a windows system, and anyone with intrusion detection can find you. and it is against the law. Do you think we are criminals because we use a penguin.

AquamaN 10-14-2004 03:27 PM

wow... haven't seen one of these in a while.
