How are object-oriented languages transformed to GCC's RTL ?

I recently started thinking that how are object oriented languages transformed to RTL ? I mean, in RTL there are no classes nor structs left, only expressions and functions. So what happens to those classes and structs (OO objects in general) ? Are they deconstructed ? And does the Java front-end even use RTL ?

If this is not a right forum to ask this, where could I get help ?

Best regards, Desmond
