help me

i'm following this link for runnig hpl.
http://www.netlib.org/benchmark/hpl/software.html
i've stopped with this command. and i don't know what shal i do.
Code:
Create a file Make.<arch> in the top-level directory. For this purpose, you may want to re-use one contained in the setup directory. This Make.<arch> file essentially contains the compilers, libraries, and their paths to be used on your system.
what is " arch " ?

And don't double-post the same question twice. This was also answered in your other thread.
