Question Help on GDK GTK+ programming

hi

i want to design a "launcher" application which has its own window
and this application should be able to launch an executable file of Gdb or Gtk application.
so i want to know that is there a method or technique by which i can do it. (as we do fork exec in linux programming)

Also the problem is that the launcher window should contain the window of the application launched. Is it possible?
i.e. both should come into focus if i click on either.

thanks in advance
