help!help!about process on solaris


In C language programming on solaris 8, a parent process has several child processes and I urgently need a way without suspending the parent process to know a whether a child proceess specified by its ID is finished.(function waitpid() suspend the parent process when called) I already searched many material and get little.I am really in emergency and need help. Any advice will be highly appreciated.Thanks!
