gethrtime System call

Hi all,
Does any one know is hrtime_t gethrtime supported on Linux Redhat4.5
Running GCC 4.1.1 and I am trying to use it my code ... but it complains saying it's not declared I have searched the sytem files and can't locate it .. Does anyone know if it was ported on Redhat 4.5 linux

if you are okay with micro seconds then go ahead with gettimeofday()
