Wink GCC book tipps??

Hi all,

I have decided to learn bit about GTK and GTK2. Hehe.. Sounds good. But I am not very good at programming in C so I need a book that teaches me the basics. First I would like to learn a bit about C and than C++. I think this is the right sequence.
So what book is the best for beginner C programmers. (I know PHP, Perl, C# quite well).

Sams C primer plus
Sams C++ primer plus

Ages ago I bought the first one and liked it quite a bit. The first link gives some extracts of the book as well.
