G++ latest version download
Can anyone send me the link to latest version of g++ compiler.
Thanx in advance Ashwini:cool: |
http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/
g++ is part of the Gnu Compiler Collection (gcc). The above link takes you to there website. Be warned, with C++ especially, that 3.4.0 will not compile everything correctly (yet) and will not created binaries backwards compatible with older versions of gcc (aka older libstdc++). I'd probably recommend using gcc 3.3.3 unless you have a specific reason for doing otherwise. |
Hi jtShaw ,
i am not able to find out the binaries for GCC 3.3.3 , can u please send me the exact link for download. Thanx in advance |
well, that depends on what distro u use.
Did u check ur distro's site for updates? anyway, i feel its better if u install stuff from source |
Hi vinay_s_s
Plz be more clear |
well, if u want binary packages, then it is dependent on ur distribution. for example, suse's package cant be used for redhat and vice versa. so i told u to check ur linux vendor for updates. if u want sources, u can obtain from any gnu mirror.
PS: Please update ur profile so that we can easily know what distro u are using. (personal question: are u living in India ?) |
Hi vinay
I am using Red hat linux, ------------------ And yes i am from india and from Delhi wut bout u |
well first of all "u _didn't_ update ur profile"
also, why do u want to update gcc ? by what i know, updating core components like gcc, glibc requires recompilation of all applications that depend on them. So a wise choice would be to update ur distribution - Go Fedora or something like that. ---- |
I know it very well.

Post #10, @Avdhut : Welcome to LQ. .. :) ..
First : Please do not use an 8 year old thread for your question. Start a new thread instead : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/ >>> 'New Thread'. And please read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html I.e. specify your Linux OS, like Fedora 16, CentOS6, Ubuntu 11.10 etc. . |
