As you all know FC4 comes with gcc4 which does not have g77 fortran compiler.
I would liek to know if it is possible to (add) g77 to FC4?
I am not a programmer, and I don't know what to do to have g77 (and f77) back as I have packages that depend on (and was written for) these compilers. I also want to have the option -lg2c to work again.
If it is possible to have g77 (f77) on FC4 please tell me how, and what packages should I install? I have no internet connection at home, so please specify the packages and I shall download them and install them.
i think the link is to download gfortran. the man page for gfortran says:
"Gfortran is not yet a fully comformant Fortran 95 Compiler...For those whose Fortran codes conform to either the Fortran 77 standard or the GNU Fortran 77 language, we recommend to use g77 from GCC 3.4. We reommend that distrubutors continue to provide packages of g77-3.4 until we announce that gfortran fully replaces g77."
i'm not sure if you can just install g77-3.4 without installing gcc-3.4, but i doubt that you can. you can either install gcc-3.4 along with gcc-4.0, or search for another compiler. i did a google search on fortran 77 compilers and got several pages on the subject.
I have installed the package and it added the g77 support thank you!
Well, I have a little problem now. It seems that the "-lg2c" option does not work. Any clue(s)?
