extract .exe files on linux?


hi, I got this firmware for an mp3 player. It uses Uclinux on it and I wanna look at the firmware contents. Its in .exe format, is it possible to extract the file in linux and look at the contents?

Yes with unzip.

Those .exe files don't work on Linux/Solaris.

I have a beautiful program; it is a router simulator. I can train all the Cisco's IOS router command using the program. It is .exe file. I am forced to use Windows XP to use the program.

True, that linux can not natively run windows exe files.
I assumed the firmware was a self extracting zip file.

Even if was selfextracting zip it can't run on linux... It must be .zip
That's what i think.. Please correct me if i'm wrong

Yes, unzip can extract files from a DOS self extracting zip file.

apparently it can do self exes
`man unzip`
