Emacs tuning
Hi there,
I would like to tune my emacs but I don't know how to do that.
1) I tried the following in .emacs but emacs don't like it that much.
(defun start-exception-block()
(interactive)
(insert "try {\n} catch (Exception e) {\n}")
(backward-char 25)
)
(define-key java-map-mode "\C-ce" 'start-exception-block)
2) I would like to load some el files from .emacs.d/ directory for instance but
(setq load-path
(append (list nil "/u1/pg/pym1/.emacs.d/") load-path))
don't seem to do the trick.
Does any of you understand emacs well enough to explain me the tailoring of emacs?
Thanks very much.
Cheers,
Pierre-Yves
PS: Another one... Under my previous linux distribution (Mandrake, now I'm on RH sth.0), I've got much better key for typing latex. For instance, \c-cf was able to write begin figure, generate a proper label fig:<myFigLabel> etc... Now, I ve just \C-ce to do some \end opened environment.... I don't know if I'm clear but this tuning was really handy for efficient report writing...
