dynamic allocation of memory in kernel space

I am writing a module which uses a linked list.
I need a find a way to allocate memory dynamically for the linked list in my module ( something similar to malloc in user application ).
I am not able to use MALLOC. My kernel version is 2.4.18-14smp.
Could anyone help me on this.
