OK, i'm trying to suss out how to build GUI's in C++ or C with GTK. Using Glade i can easily build source code go GUI's, but how do i do it by hand? glade creates ./configure and Makefiles and such like, What do i need to know to make these by myself? The output of thesee always scares me, and i'm only ickle!
well, for starters, there's not a programmer on earth who really bothers to do the script files by hand. it's not amazingly complicated stuff, it's just that it's produced by another script, which makes it pretty obfuscated.
basically, all that the configure script does is to check for different libraries or other programs on your computer, and makes sure that everything is up to date to get the package running. many programmers use autoconf and automake to package their programs... you might want to try reading up on those.
ok... what do you have so far? i haven't used automake or autoconf in a while, but i think i can walk you through it. i'm guessing that you already have a working "hello world" program and you're trying to fingure out how to package it?
