Don't laugh...

Err..before I start, I would like to say that I have just started using Linux (a day or two ago)..

Im trying to learn C++, so im trying to follow this book..
Ive written a 'Hello, World!' program and compiled it as follows:
g++ hello.cpp
this created a file a.out
Im pretty sure that a.out is the executable...but umm..how exactly do I run it?
(pretty embarrassing)

Cheers
Gordon

./a.out

and you can use
g++ -o prog hello.cpp
and the executalbe will be named prog (so ./prog will start it).
Good luck!

Here is a site that has a message board almost identical to this one so you should feel right at home. Oh and it has lots of useful stuff too.
