Does Linux has a speech SDK?

Hello everybody.

Not long ago, I've made a cool program on windows with the Microsoft Speech SDK. Now I would like to make that program on Linux too, but I don't know if there is a speech SDK for Linux (I don't expect the one of Microsoft to run on it).

So this is my question:

Does there exists a speech SDK (text to speech/speech to text) for Linux?

I did some research myself. The only one I found is IBM's ViaVoice Linux SDK.
The problem is you have to pay for it. while M$ was free.
