Documents to learn C language and Perl/python

Hi folks,

Programming is completely new to me. Kindly advise;

1) Perl and python: which of them is more commonly used in writing script

2) I am interested to learn 'C language' I made a search with 'google' to find somne good documents from open source to learn the same but difficult to adjustify on the search. Could you please recommend some suitable articles/documents for learning 'C language' and Perl/Python.
