do you meet something like this?


I installed ftp and dns server on my computer, and it work local {from my computer to my computer} but this programs DOSN NOT work from other computers. I have access to all other network, and from other computers work comand: "ping mitio" //mitio is named my computer. I am sure that I was correct installed ftp and dns on my computer, because they work well when i tested them from my computer. Do you have any idea what is going on??? ((...pls....

I am not sure that I understand you problem. So you can ping you ftp server, but can not ftp to it?? If this is the case you may have a firewall issue on the server. Also when troubleshooting, ftp to the ip address, not the computer name. If the IP works, but the host name does not then you may want to add it do the /etc/hosts file on the client computer.

Sounds like possibly firewall config to me too. Did you check the config file for ipchains, iptables, or whatever firewall is installed?
