Disk Monitor

Hello all,
I am wondering if someone would be able to help me out with an idea. I would like to set something up on my linux servers at work that would run as a cron. What I would like it to do is first run the command "df -h" and warn me in something like /var/log/diskmonitor if the disk space is getting low. Sorry if I am not saying this right, this would be a new thing for me. Any ideas? I would like to set the range of warning around 3 Gigs or lower. Thank you in advance for any help that is offered.

Seeing it's more than one server and it's a work thing there's three easy choices:
0. Install Monit on each box, configure a bit (easy) and save time for other tasks,
1. Configure SNMP (easy) and use an app like Nagios to check it remotely,
2. Join the crowd by proudly but inefficiently re-inventing the wheel all over and over again.
