digital signatures

Does anyone know of a current tutorial on the subject for someone who knows nothing about encryption and keys.

What are the packages that can be used in Debian 7?

Thank you for your help

I wanted to use it for emails and it is a lot easier than I expected since it is part of the "evolution" software that is part of Debian 7 so my questions become unnecessary.

Well, there's Everything You Need to know about Encryption In One Hour.

Unfortunately, I saw after posting this that the video of the talk has been removed from BlipTV and, apparently, from The Internet. A medium amount of time ago, BlipTV sold out, decided it wanted to be daytime TV, and deleted all the open source videos they were hosting with no warning or recourse whatsoever.
