"dialog" -distinguish between Ok with emptychecklist and Cancel

Im using dialog --checklist command in bash. Im getting the output by redirecting stderr to a file and then I examinine the file. I'd like script to continue if I select ok checking no options and exit if I select cancel. But both cancel and Ok with selecting no options result in identical empty stderr. Is there a way to distinguish between Cancel and Ok with empty checklist?
