debug gives a strange error

Hello, i'm trying to learn how to use linux debuggers but am having a few problems. I've tried 3 debugger interfaces, DDD, Anjuta and insight and keep getting the same error on running the code. The problem is the code when ran by itself (ie ./test) works fine. I'm running code that uses openGL and SDL. The code works fine, however when I run from a debugger I get the following error

***********************************************************
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enable]
[new Thread -1216509184 (LWP 6072)]

Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception.
[Switching to Thread -1216509184 (LWP 6072)]

_mesa_test_os_sse_exceptionsupport () at x86/common_x86_asm.S:205 in x86/common_x86_asm.S

Warning the curent language does not match this frame
*********************************************************
I'm using DDD mostly so could anyone advise what to do, I'm starting ro thing it's easier using printf in Linux to debug

I have to say my knowledge of linux debuggers is not too hot, but I know sdl and opengl so if the code is not too big I may be able to spot the problem.

I wonder if this is a float error or something ???

[edit] On second thoughts if it was a float error then it wouldn't run fine?
