I'm getting an error when I try to connect to mySQL through perl:

install_driver(mysql) failed: Can't locate DBD/mysql.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at (eval 4) line 3.
Perhaps the DBD::mysql perl module hasn't been fully installed,
or perhaps the capitalisation of 'mysql' isn't right.

When I try to install DBD::mysql through cpan, I get a bunch of errors as well... such as "Can't exec "mysql_config": No such file or directory at Makefile.PL line 174.
readline() on closed filehandle PIPE at Makefile.PL line 176."

Any idea on how to get around this?

how did u install mysql?

It was installed from the Mandrake 9.2 installation cds. I finally figured out that I could install the DBD::Mysql module by using RPM Drake in the Mandrake Control Center.

I just think it's weird that I couldn't install DBD::Mysql through MCPAN...

it's the disadvantage of polished distributions that they tend to place and arrange libraries and programs the way they want and not the way authors of perl modules assume...
