hi,
are there other database servers in linux besides mysql? if there are, then why is it that mysql is the choice of database besides other alternatives (because most use mysql)? |

Just to name a few - mysql, postgresql, firebird, sapdb, db2, oracle, adabas, sybase. Thats all I can remember now, there're sure to be a couple more :). Quote:
* easy to install & maintain (if I could install it...your pet poodle can too and that too blindfolded) * fabulous docs & tutorials (biggest reason) * decent drivers and modules (PHP comes to mind ;) ) * lots of forums to answer questions (like this one) I guess the other DBs offer all of the above and more too, its just they aren't very visible for some reason. regards theN |
oh go get Oracle up and running, you know you want to :P

PostGreSQL (great!), Sybase, Oracle, DB2, Mimer....pick one. :-)
