D Programming Language

What's everyone's opinions on it? I hope to learn it after this semester ends. With finals and all coming up, I just don't have time right now. But that's not the point. Do y'all think it will take off? Do you think it's {better | worse | same as} {C | C++}? Just wondering.

If by "take off" you mean become as ubiquitous as C or C++, I don't think it will. I've tried it myself and it's a decent language, but I just don't see it getting a huge following.

Like the fact that it's horrendously slow?

Did you used java recently ? or ever ?
Since the hot-spot JVM is available, java is performing well in front of other languages.

I don't know; from the brief overview of the site it looks like it's trying to become a catch-all, do-everything language, something that sounds doomed to failure. Then again, I'm an old-fashioned C fan. ;)
