Creating a new Linux Distro

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, and am hoping some of you will help a student out.
I'm currently working on my graduation project and have chosen to strip a Ubuntu version of Linux and customize it.
I downloaded the LFS book and have started reading it, I'm really just looking to create a new Man or at least rename it and create some commands for it. Also I'm looking to create a new Gui theme with some custom icons.
Any advise would be greatly appriciated, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree let me know.

Thanks a lot
Chris

As for that you really shouldn't. Not only are there more than enough distro's around already, creating, supporting and maintaining one isn't as easy as it looks.

Ah. That's not "creating a distribution" that's using other peoples work to create a spin-off. Signs of weak (actually: still-born) "distributions" include: a distribution owner with zero or near-zero conceptual and theoretical knowledge of GNU/Linux in general, zero or near-zero practical experience, zero or way vague plans plus the strong belief that "just renaming stuff" or adding "a new Graphical Theme" will Cause Zits to Disappear, not to mention the Paradigm Shift That Will Be Named After You plus all the chicks around suddenly calling you "Hef" :-]

Searching is good too: Creating Your Own MAN Page Version 1.0 or say How to Write a Man Page.

Try to reverse-engineering a driver/chip's device that haven't a free driver, at all.

Don't mock it. It has happened. I'm living proof of it. And don't get me started about what my math skills got me..
